The world has many challenges in the environmental field.
Combating climate change and achieving the goal of the Paris Agreement is one of the greatest challenges of our time. As a leader in our industry, we need to take our responsibility and contribute by reducing our business’ climate impact. We do this, among other things, by making our production units more energy-efficient and reducing our CO2 emissions.
Based on the Group’s strategy linked to the 2030 Agenda, we have chosen to link our environmental work in general to UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure – and Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production – and specifically to targets 9.4 and 12.5. The targets address how we as a Group can contribute to more sustainable industry through active emission and energy reduction efforts, as well as more sustainable production through more efficient use of resources and management of waste and recycling.
Balco has set as a long-term goal to be climate neutral in 2045. As the Group aims to grow both organically and through acquisitions, our goal is to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 environmental impact per hour worked by 35% by 2025, compared with 2019. Both targets and outcomes are monitored and evaluated annually.
